|Our standard tours are as follows:
Tour A - Simply Cotswold's
Visit the beautiful stone towns and villages of the Cotswold's region, explore the joys of Burford and Bibury, Broadway and Bourton on the Water. Then get off the beaten track and search out little hidden gems where other tourists do not get to go. We can visit churches or ruins, gardens and big country houses. Each tour is modified to suit your own personal preferences. Experience the architecture of the area from idyllic stone roofed manor houses to pretty thatched cottage and wide open market squares and winding streets.
Tour B - Stonehenge, Avebury, and Salisbury Cathedral
Leaving Oxford we travel through the Thames valley and the southern Cotswold's then climbing over the Berkshire downs and into the valley of the river Kennet we first visit the largest stone circle in England at Avebury where we can walk among the stones and view one of the oldest agricultural settlements in the country. Next we cross the rolling hills driving through the remains of an iron age hill fort and past one of the famous white horse hill markings, before dropping into Salisbury plain on our way to Stonehenge. The route takes us through a different style of housing again, hundreds of tiny thatched cottages constructed of brick and flint, with roses round the door and lining crystal clear rivers and streams in the pretty secluded valleys.
Tour C - Regency Bath, Castle Combe and the southern Cotswold's
Leaving Oxford we drive via the beautiful Cotswold gateway town of Burford, cross country to the delightful village of Bibury alongside the river Coln. Taking a short stroll here for a picture and rest stop we then continue on past Cirencester an ancient Roman township and on to Tetbury home to Prince Charles, and his nearby neighbour, his sister Princess Anne. We drive along the Cotswold edge with views on a clear day to the mountains of South Wales before beginning our descent to Bath. Here we will drive around the town for a detailed description of the formation and architecture of the town before parking and walking into the city with the opportunity to visit the site of the Roman Baths and the fabulous Bath Abbey. Our return journey in the late afternoon takes us through the southern Cotswolds and on to the village of Castle Combe, sometimes claimed to be the most beautiful village in England, then, onward, and back to your hotel accommodation.
Tour D - Stratford-upon-Avon (or Warwick) and the northern Cotswolds
We take a leisurely drive north from Oxford through the gorgeous Banbury Iron stone countryside, to reach the historic medieval town of Stratford upon Avon, birthplace to William Shakespeare. Here you will have the opportunity to visit some or all of the Shakespeare house including the Birthplace and Anne Hathaway's Cottage, before commencing our run back to Oxford via the picturesque scenery of the Northern Cotswolds. A superb day taking in the wonderful atmosphere of the region as a whole.
